Durk Hattink /Senior designer (1972)
15 Years ago Durk Hattink and the Rietveld Academie in Amsterdam bode each other a premature farewell.
Durk began his career as freelance graphic designer for the mother of all (Dutch) magazines, Margriet. A year and a half later he moved on to his first full-time position, as Art Director at Quote Magazine.
Getting a mention as 'Creative Director' in the colofon, is as close as Hattink ever came to being listed in the Quote 500, the Dutch equivalent of the Fortune 500. He was however, voted Mercur's Art Director of the year in 2004 for his acclaimed work. 2007 saw him winning another Mercur for the special edition '17th century Quote500'.
In January of 2007, the one man Durk.com show was born. Serving the likes of Porsche, PricewaterhouseCoopers and Nothing from his Amsterdam bachelor pad. Durk's ancient Jaguar XJ6 4.0 Souvereign however, now stands motionless in front of his old office. Since 2009, Durk vacates his home daily to bicycle to Nothing.
...
Within one meter of the Nothing entrance, a spot has been reserved for Durks bike. Clients may take advantage of this by (gently) leaning their bikes against his. Ideal during rain and hail storms. Bicycles belonging to late or not-at-all paying clients, will be removed.
