30 years ago my mother gave birth to a not so small person. A healthy 10-pounder that would grow to a formidable 2.01 meter. And according to that same mother, it was soon clear that I was creative. During my countless playback performances of Europe's 'Final Countdown', I would play cords that weren't actually there. And that on a guitar that had wobbly-drawn lines as snares(?).
Once old enough to understand that the lyrics of this worldwide hit were about as good as Birckenstocks are hip, I discovered Pearl Jam. It was the combination of Eddie Vedder's verging-on-brilliant voice and his home-hittin' lyrics that convinced me to spend more time writing. And so I did. A short stint at the record label 'Mental Theo' (briefing: 12 year old girls need to be able to sing-along), a few short stories and a couple of Ad agencies later, I've finally become the man Pearl Jam sings about on the album 'Vitalogy ....Nothingman*
*(for the people that actually take the effort to check-out the lyrics, please ignore the fact that this song's about a bad relationship and only remember the joke that I as man are working at Nothing (Nothingman, get it?)
