Michael Jansen /Creative Director (1957)
Born in Adelaide, South Australia, Michael moved to Los Angeles in 1968.
Returning to his country of birth, Michael began his career as a junior art director at Y&R Adelaide, and in 1985 joined Clemengers/BBDO in Sydney. In search of the advertising mekka, he moved to London for three crisis ridden years in 1988 (right place, wrong time), working for agencies MOJO/Chiat Day and Edwards Martin Thornton. Followed by a 9 month freelance stint in New York.
In 1992 Michael moved to Amsterdam. After an initial freelance period he joined DDB in 1995, becoming Creative Director and Board Member of the newly merged Result DDB in 1997. He was joined by Copywriter Bas Korsten in 2000. Under their creative leadership, which included European Creative Director duties on Volkswagen, DDB was voted 'Agency of the Year' in 1999, 2001 and 2003.
...
In 2004 he left DDB to co-found creative agency Selmore, quickly gaining a formidable list of clients, including Uniliever, Skoda Automobiles, Jumbo Supermarkets, Bavaria Brewery, and Coca-Cola Netherlands. The agency was runner-up 'Agency of the Year' in 2007.
Over the years Michael has been recognized by Cannes, Clio, NY Festivals and others, for a variety of clients including Volkswagen, Lotto, Centraal Beheer Insurances, Scratch Lottery, and McDonalds. Michael has been invited to judge Cannes (twice), Clio's (twice) and D&AD (twice).
In January 2009, Michael co-founded Nothing.
